Despite his pleas for her to address issues privately, she would confront him in front of the kids, who began mimicking her behavior by hitting him or retaliating with objects. The situation worsened when the wife became defensive, verbally attacking him, and it took the intervention of their children to calm her down. Church members appeared to dismiss the seriousness of the issue. The couple attended the service with their four children, who are caught in this unhealthy cycle. A related community workshop on domestic violence highlighted how such behaviors are often passed down, with children of abuse learning to replicate it in future relationships.
