Here's the last huge Pixel 9 leak before the event!

WATCH THE VIDEO HERE

We’re only five days away from Google’s next hardware event, and we all pretty much know what its devices look like. They’ve been leaked over the past several months and Google even teased two of them. However, it’s never too late to gawk at some more leaks. Thanks to a user on X.com, we have what could be the last huge Pixel 9 leak before the event.

In case you don’t know, Google’s next event is happening on August 13th, which is much earlier than years prior. This all took us by surprise, as it positions the company right between two of the biggest smartphone releases of the year. It comes right after Galaxy Unpacked and right before Apple’s iPhone event. We don’t know if that’s going to have some sort of impact on the sales.

Here’s the last huge Pixel 9 leak before the event

We have to do our due diligence. We pretty much know these phones inside and out. However, since we’re dealing with unannounced details, you’ll still want to take it with a grain of salt (alright, maybe half a grain). Google will give us all the information when the event goes down on the 13th.

Let’s start off with the leaked live images

We all know what these phones will look like. The Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL will sport a Bender-style camera package on the back, flat edges, and pretty rounded corners. As for the frame of the phone, some models will have a glossy frame.

The set of images below shows the Pixel 9 Pro. It looks like Google was hosting a private event where it showed off the phones and gave users a quick hands-on. In the first image, we see several models sitting on a table in the background with their accompanying cases. We see some of the colors that the phones will come in, but we don’t know what models we’re looking at.

As for the phone, we see that the sides are glossy, and that doesn’t really look super elegant compared to matte edges. The other images in the set show off the zoom capabilities of the camera, a neat wallpaper, and the phone from the back. We see it in this nice white color. There’s not much more that we can glean from the images. We’re still looking for images that will tell us just how much the camera bump will jut from the back of the phone.

Pixel 9 Pro XL images

The next image shows us a look at the Pixel 9 Pro XL. Pink seems to be all the rage this year, as we see the phone in this nice pink color. It’s hard to tell if the back glass is matte or glossy, but it will, hopefully, be the former. Looking at the frame of the phone, it looks like this model will also have a glossy frame, but we’ll have to wait for more images to see that.

One thing we noticed is that the metal on the camera bump is the same color as the phone itself, which looks pretty nice. We also see what may be the next-generation temperature sensor.

Leaked specs

Just like with the images, the specs have been leaked over the past couple of months, there’s not much more left to surprise us. Still, you’ll want to take this information cautiously.

These specs pertain to the Pro XL model. According to the leak, this phone will have a large 6.8-inch OLED display with a 2992 x 1344 resolution. It’s odd that the company didn’t just go for a full 1440p resolution. In any case, the display will be noticeably sharper than 1080p. Lastly, it could reach up to 3,000 nits of brightness and is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Moving onto the internals, the Pixel 9 Pro XL will come with Google’s latest chip, the Tensor G4 accompanied by the Titan M2 chip. It’s expected to start with 16GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. That’s a bit of a letdown, as most other phones in this price category start with double the storage.

The camera setup in this phone will be the most advanced in the Pixel 9 lineup. It’s expected to be a 50MP main camera (f/1.68) accompanied by a 48MP ultrawide (f/1.7) and a 48MP Zoom (f/2.8) 5x zoom camera. Up front, you could be looking at a 48MP selfie camera.

Out of the box, the Pixel 9 series of phones will have Android 14 installed, which is a little disappointing. Google has delayed the launch of the next version of Android, but the update should come soon after the launch. Speaking of out-of-the-box additions, the Pixel 9 will come with Gemini installed by default.

Price

As for the price, this will be the most expensive non-folding Pixel phone to date. The Pixel 9 Pro XL will start at $1,099. Again, that’s for the 128GB variant, which is a bit disappointing. The like also states that the Pixel 9 Pro XL will have a 1TB variant. We don’t know the price of this one but don’t expect it to be cheap.
