‘He’s been a stubborn boy’, NNPP welcomes Buhari’s former aide’s defection to APC

The leadership of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) on Friday, welcomed the defection of Abdulrahman Kawu, a former aide the ex-president Muhammadu Buhari from the party.

Hashimu Dungura, the chairman of the Kano State chapter of the NNPP said Kawu’s exit to the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a welcome development.

Recall that Kawu was among the several members of the NNPP who were received by the national chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje on Thursday, April 24.

However, reacting to Kawu’s defection, Dungura said the the former lawmaker’s exit from the party is a relief for NNPP members and their leaders.

Noting the NNPP leaders were not taken unaware by Kawu’s exit, Dungura said his departure from the party was well anticipated.

According to him, Kawu has been a “stubborn boy” whose actions had caused more disruption than progress within the NNPP.

“The party will now have peace. He turned out to be a stubborn boy among the children at the party. So, having him out means the party can now focus on what it’s supposed to do, unlike when he was here disturbing the party,” Dungura said.
