WATCH THE VIDEO HERE Former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant has tipped Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen to succeed at Chelsea if he eventually makes the transfer, Soccernet.ng reports. Osimhen has been consistently linked with a transfer to Chelsea for the last two years due to his brilliant performances for Napoli and Galatasaray. In fact, he was in the conversation when they decided to sign Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal two years ago. Unfortunately for the Blues, the Jackson deal has not paid off, as he has been notorious for missing too many chances. Former Chelsea star Mikel Obi has been Jackson’s number one critic, as he believes that the Senegalese striker cannot lead the Blues to silverware. Instead, he has advised them to sign Osimhen from Napoli. This is as he believes the 25-year-old striker would give them an extra bite in the final third. Former Liverpool winger Pennant shares this opinion. He believes that Osimhen would put up incredible numbers for Chelsea and possibly lead the team to silverware. “He (Osimhen) would change things for Chelsea without a shout of a doubt. He knows how to put the ball in the back of the net. His numbers are flying in, his numbers are great,” Pennant told Talk Sports. “I’m gonna look back to Jackson and how many chances he gets a game, but the conversion rate isn’t great. He can have three or four clear-cut chances and he won’t put any if them away. “You’re scratching your head, thinking about how have Chelsea come away with a draw or a loss. I think someone like Osimhen, who is prolific in front of goal would boost Chelsea or boost any team.” “Osimhen will boost Chelsea or any team…” Jermaine Pennant agrees with Mikel Obi that Victor Osimhen will be great for Chelsea. pic.twitter.com/iYy8y1BwjP — @ (@OneJoblessBoy) March 22, 2025 Victor Osimhen would be a great addition to any team in the world right now. His temperament, skill-set, and speed are key attributes that would suit any team. However, just adding him alone to the current Chelsea side won’t solve their problems. The Super Eagles striker will surely improve their goals output. But they have a lot of problems at the back. The defence has been leaky, as the likes of Benoit Badiashile, Levi Colwill, and Trevor Chalobah have not impressed much. The goalkeeper, Robert Sanchez has also been a notable culprit, as his mistakes have often put the team in a precarious position. If they can solve all these issues and they add Osimhen as the focal point of their attack, they will do well next season.
Is Victor Osimhen the solution to Chelsea’s problems?
