Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko has reacted to the death of popular fish entrepreneur Ifesinachi Onyekere, also known as Fish Magnet.
Naijaonpoint reports that the businessman was attacked last Saturday at his home in Ezinifite village, located in the Okpuno area of Awka South Local Government of Anambra State.
Witnesses said the attackers, who came in an ash-coloured Lexus SUV, shot him in the leg and forced him into his own navy blue Toyota Corolla.
Etiko shared her grief on Instagram, calling for better security in the country and expressing how deeply the news affected her.
She wrote: “The painful demise of this hardworking & promising young man has kept me dumbstruck 😶 @fishmagnett 😢 What was his offense Bikonu 💔 Because decided to be useful to himself 🤷♀️ Some people are not human at all. Kidnapping and taking money from him wasn’t enough… must u sniff life out of him 💔🥲 Honestly I have been having anxiety since yesterday upon this devastating news 😭
Pls our government should look into the security of our country 😢😢😢 This tragedy is becoming a nightmare to us. We need maximum security in all the states especially in the eastern part of Nigeria 🙏 My heart is pained 🥲💔 RIP MY IGBO BROTHER 🕊️”
The 35-year-old entrepreneur was the only son of Chinyere Onyekesi, who serves as the Women Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State.
He managed Fish Magnet, a thriving fish business in the state.
On Wednesday, the Anambra State Police confirmed that his body was discovered by the roadside in Awka.
The police added that the suspects had likely monitored him before the attack.
His abandoned car was later recovered on the Ukwulu–Igbariam road by a joint team of police and local vigilante groups.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has directed all tactical and intelligence units to track down those behind the killing.
