Honkai: Star Rail 4.0 has been officially delayed by developer HoYoverse, according to an announcement made by the company, though that is not the exact wording that was chosen for ...ponement. The turn-based RPG is near the end of Version 3.7, which added the final quests in the Amphoreus story arc. Soon, players will gain access to the contents of Honkai: Star Rail 3.8, which have now been detailed.
During the Version 3.8 livestream on the Honkai: Star Rail channel on YouTube, which presented all of the new content for the upcoming patch, HoYoverse made a special announcement, revealing that the next update will last eight weeks. This is longer than usual, as patches tend to last precisely six weeks before another update is issued by the developer. In fact, there will even be a third banner phase in Version 3.8 because of its duration, featuring Aglaea and Sunday rerun banners.
Honkai: Star Rail 4.0 Is Pushed Back By 2 Weeks (For Now)
Version 3.8 Will Last Eight Weeks, Rather Than Six
Given that regular patches tend to last six weeks and Version 3.8 will last eight weeks, this means that Version 4.0 will be pushed back by two weeks. There had already been rumors about a potential delay to Honkai: Star Rail 4.0, though the speculation mentioned that the delay could last up to eight weeks. HoYoverse’s announcement during the livestream indirectly confirms that the delay is real.
However, players may not be subjected to an additional eight weeks of waiting for a new patch after the six-week period of Version 3.8. Instead, they’ll only have to wait for an additional two weeks. This announcement does not mean that Version 4.0 is not subject to any further postponements, as more work may appear for HoYoverse during the next few months. Even so, for all intents and purposes, the game’s Version 4.0 will officially suffer a two-week delay.

HoYoverse May Be Tweaking Edo Star
HoYoverse did not provide an explanation as to why the delay is happening – in fact, it did not even treat it as a delay, per se, only mentioning that Version 3.8 would last eight weeks. However, there are some theories as to why this is occurring. According to the previous rumors about the delay, HoYoverse may be fixing some issues with the next destination, which is said to be the Edo Star.
According to some older leaks, Edo Star is a futuristic Japanese-inspired destination. This is why there are also rumors about a new Himeko form in Honkai: Star Rail 4.x patches, for example, as she is allegedly from there, as well as the long-awaited Yae Sakura expy. Nonetheless, China, where HoYoverse is from, and Japan, which is the inspiration for the new location, have been undergoing diplomatic stress in real life.
The speculation is that HoYoverse is now working to remove the Japanese-inspired iconography from the upcoming location and keep it neutral so as not to associate the game with Japan. This is, of course, unconfirmed by HoYoverse and should be treated as a rumor. Even so, it makes a lot of sense. Now, players may have to wait an extra time before diving into Honkai: Star Rail 4.0’s contents.
