Honor announces the MagicOS 9.0 update with a focus on AI features

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has finally announced the MagicOS 9.0 update for its devices. The new OS update comes with a focus on AI features. The company held a MagicOS press conference and developer conference in China to announce the new update. Notably, the company has already announced the public beta update plan for the MagicOS version 9.0. The new update will start rolling out at some point in November.

Honor MagicOS 9.0 has a special focus on AI features

Notably, Honor’s new MagicOS 9.0 update has a special focus on delivering advanced AI features. The company claims that MagicOS 9.0 offers “the industry’s first all-scenario personalized AI operating system”. The new OS brings the brand’s new proprietary MagicLM lineup, while there’s an upgraded YOYO AI assistant. Honor has leveraged LLMs (Large Language Models) to enhance its device-level AI capabilities.

Notably, the MagicOS version 9.0 utilizes the three billion parameter LLM. It will support the brand’s mid-range and premium flagship smartphones. Notably, the new OS has achieved an 80 percent reduction in power consumption. There’s also a 77 percent increase in the loading speed and a 500 percent increase in word output speed. Also, the new OS reduces 1.8GB and 1.6GB of usage in ROM and RAM usage respectively.

The new Honor OS brings an all-new YOYO AI agent

Honor has included an upgraded version of its YOYO AI assistant in the MagicOS 9.0 update. The company says that the AI agent will offer four core capabilities. It can understand different usage scenarios, including user behavior, habit learning, and scenario perception. It will offer better decision-making abilities, apart from improved in-app and cross-app operations.

The YOYO AI assistant can now understand and execute the user request like a real-life assistant. It can find out where a user usually orders and will automatically make a request. All of these things will be done with just a single prompt. Users can now make long requests using just a single command. The new OS also builds a new AI ecosystem through various open applications. Honor is also bringing new features to the Magic Portal and Magic Capsule functionalities.

These Honor devices will get the new MagicOS update

A number of Honor smartphones will be getting the MagicOS 9.0 update. It will first start rolling out to the Magic V series of devices. Listed below are all the Honor phones that will get the new OS upgrade.

All Magic V book-style phones dating back to the Magic V (Honor Magic V3 review), Magic V Flip, Magic 6 series (including the Porsche Edition), Magic 5 series, Magic 4 series, HONOR 200 series, HONOR 100 series, HONOR 90 series, HONOR 80 series, HONOR X60 series, and the HONOR 50.

Some of the aforementioned devices will start getting the new update in November. While the rest of them will get it between December to March 2025. Some of these phones are already running the MagicOS 9.0 update in the internal beta version. We will update you as soon as these devices individually start getting the new OS update.
