Mixed reactions have trailed the news of music star, Davido’s appointment as Chairman of Osun State Sports Trust Fund.

In a press statement, the Osun State Government announced that it has appointed Davido as the Chairman of the newly established Osun Sports Trust Fund.

According to the government, the initiative aims to attract private investment and philanthropic support to revamp the sports sector and ensure sustainable funding for athletes, facilities, and competitions.

The Deputy Governor and Commissioner for Sports, Kola Adewusi, while confirming the appointment, stated that the Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration aims to transform the state’s sports infrastructure, beginning with the ongoing renovation of the Osogbo Township Stadium.

“The renovation of the Osogbo Township Stadium is at an advanced stage and will be completed soon,” Adewusi said. “We are also setting up the Osun State Sports Commission to oversee sports administration, development, and policy implementation.”

Speaking further, he noted that the creation of the Osun Sports Trust Fund was designed to attract long-term funding from individuals and organisations passionate about sports.

“Davido has been appointed to chair the Sports Trust Fund, and he did not hesitate to accept the role,” the deputy governor stated. “His involvement is expected to draw massive support and investment that will impact Osun sports positively.”
