WATCH THE VIDEO HERE Sean “Diddy” Combs’ high-profile sex trafficking trial officially got underway last week with jury selection, and prosecutors brought former hotel security guard turned LAPD officer Israel Florez to the stan. Florez was working security at the InterContinental Los Angeles back in March 2016 when Diddy was caught on camera physically assaulting then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura. The footage of the attack was released by CNN last May. According to Florez, the altercation took place around 11 a.m., and Cassie appeared visibly “scared” during the encounter. He also testified that Diddy slipped him cash in an apparent attempt to keep the incident under wraps. “She was scared. She was in the corner, hood on, covered up. I couldn’t see her face, she was pretty much in the corner. On the floor was a destroyed flower vase,” Florez told the courtroom. “I started to leave and (Combs) called for me,” Florez continued. “He had a sack of money and he threw it at me and said, ‘Don’t tell anyone.”” He added that Combs attempted to take the phones of other hotel guards, and when the Bad Boy Records founder attempted to take his, he pinned Combs to the wall and tried to de-escalate the situation. Surveillance footage from the InterContinental Los Angeles was played in court, with five different clips shown on screen. LAPD officer Israel Florez, who was working hotel security at the time, was called to describe the scenes. “Combs comes up behind her in a towel and slams her in the head and drags her to the floor, starts to drag her back to the room,” Florez told the court. He also admitted to taking a video with his phone during the incident because he felt his wife would not believe what he witnessed without proof. One of the videos shows him signaling Cassie to enter the room, while another captures him on the phone with a supervisor discussing what just happened. Despite witnessing the assault, Florez said he never called police. According to him, Cassie just wanted to leave, and things were left alone with no one pressing charges.
