Ace Nigerian comedian, Afamefuna Klint Igwemba, popularly known as Kint Da Drunk, has recounted how the legendary singer, Innocent Idiba, better known as 2face or 2Baba, made him quit music.
Naijaonpoint reports that Klint Da Drunk, in a recent interview with Naija FM Lagos, said he initially pursued a career in music while studying at the Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Enugu State.
The comedian said he gave up music after watching 2Baba perform at the campus event.
According to Klint Da Drunk, he has no regrets about quitting music for comedy, stressing that he is happy with his career path.
He said, “I used to be a musician until 2Face got admitted to my school, IMT. One day when he got on stage to perform at an event on campus, I left the hall. The organisers pleaded with me to stay back and perform when he is done.
“I accepted but after hearing him sing just two lines, I went home. I didn’t know that my style and 2Face’s style were different. If I had known, I would continue making music. But thank God I didn’t continue. I like where I am.”
Recall that Klint Da Drunk was featured in the popular Nigerian hip-hop song ‘Obodo’ by rapper Mr Raw. He also co-founded a music group with Mr Raw before quitting singing to focus on his comedy career.
The group came second in the 2002 Star Quest talent show, losing to KC Presh.
Following his success in the comedy industry, Klint Da Drunk starred in many Nollywood movies including ‘Men On The Run’, ‘Madam 10/10’, ‘Fast Cash’, and ‘Lost Kingdom.’
