The movie star who held the premiere of her much talked about movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa on Sunday night, during her speech recounted how Dbanj stopped his personal project to support her. Funke revealed that the singer was supposed to travel for a project, but she begged him to show up for her, and he did. Funke stated that Dbanj cut his project for her and he did it at no cost. “A big thank you to Bangalee; he was supposed to travel for a project. I begged and begged and begged. He told his guys to cut the project, and he would do this for me, and he did it at no cost”. This isn’t the first time, Funke is singing the praises of Dbanj. During Dbanj’s anniversary dinner in June, Funke recounted how God used him to speak to her to keep her popular Jenifa brand. The award-winning actress revealed that the singer was the one who encouraged her to keep the Jenifa brand on fire and had supported her financially to carry out her next project. Dbanj’s support and belief in Funke and her Jenifa brand has taken her far. The filmmaker is currently the Queen of Box Office after she made history in January as the first Nigerian filmmaker to gross over a billion at cinemas, with her 2023 movie, A Tr!be Called Judah, which grossed over N1.4 billion. It was no surprise to many as Funke is one of the most hardworking women in Nollywood. For her Everybody Loves Jenifa project, Funke had empowered 175 crew members. She made this known while celebrating them for working tirelessly for nine weeks to bring her upcoming movie to life. She stated the movie was a self-funded project, and was honored to have empowered a team of talented individuals, with 95% of them being young people, to showcase their skills. In August, she had partnered with Lagos State Fire Service for her film. This was made known by the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Lagos State Governor, Jubril Giwa, on his X page.
