BLOGGER Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, has disclosed how he obtained a controversial phone recording involving cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.
Otse made this revelation today when he appeared before a House of Representatives panel investigating allegations of bribery against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
Officials from both the EFCC and NCoS were also present as the committees on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions began investigating claims of bribery and corruption made by the blogger against the agencies.
Initially, Otse refused to speak to the committee in Bobrisky’s absence, who had been invited but sent a lawyer instead. However, lawmakers pushed back, passing a motion requiring him to address the issue of the released voice recording.
Despite the committee’s threat of arrest, Otse remained firm, insisting that his lawyer would speak on his behalf. Eventually, his lawyer persuaded him to address the committee.
VeryDarkMan confirmed the authenticity of the audio, stating that it came from someone Bobrisky owed money to and submitted part of the recording to the panel.
In a viral video, Otse also claimed that Bobrisky had paid N15 million to the EFCC to drop money laundering charges related to his naira-spraying incident in April, which had resulted in a six-month prison sentence.
Otse further alleged that Bobrisky paid large sums to secure preferential treatment in prison.
Bobrisky has since denied these accusations, while the EFCC and NCoS have launched investigations into the blogger’s claims.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has called on the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to conduct an independent investigation into the allegations.
