In an Instagram post, the filmmaker questions why the JAMB exam is necessary to gain admission into universities. She further questioned if SSCE isn’t sufficient. The mother of three shared her experience with Jamb and how she failed multiple times before joining Nollywood, where she shot to fame. She noted how the detour serves her purpose and believes Jamb should be scrapped. “Why is it necessary to take the JAMB exams to gain admission into universities? Speaking from experience, JAMB almost ‘jammed’ my life. Literally. Why should students who already passed the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) be forced to jump through yet another hoop? If universities want to be selective, they can ask for more credits, like A’s and B’s in key subjects. That’s fair. But JAMB? It discourages thousands of bright, capable young people every single year. My thoughts”. Recently, the wife of the Iroko TV boss had raised a rhetorical question to the public. She questioned why we are alive, why we are still breathing, and what our purpose is on earth. She urged those religious fanatics not to use Christianity as an excuse, as she noted how many who were more religious are dead. Weeks back, Mary questioned the benefits of joining Nollywood guilds and associations. The wife of Iroko TV boss revealed that a budding filmmaker asked her about the benefits of joining the guilds, and she couldn’t give a clear answer.
Isn’t the SSCE sufficient?
I don’t understand the need for JAMB+ post-JAMB when the SSCE already shows we’ve completed Secondary School.
After sitting for it multiple times without admission, I thank God for NOLLYWOOD. That detour gave me purpose, but honestly, if you ask me (I know nobody is asking), I truly believe JAMB should be scrapped.
