How Kogi Varsity Lecturer Died In Hotel Room With Student — Police

The Kogi State command of the Nigerian Police Force has confirmed the death of Olabode Abimbola-Ibikunle, a lecturer in the Department of Social Science Education of the Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba.

The deceased reportedly died during lovemaking in a hotel room in Ayingba with one of his students, identified as Glory Ojochegbe Samuel.

According to the command spokesman, William Aya, the lady alerted the hotel’s receptionist when she noticed the unexpected development.

Mr Aya confirmed that the student has been detained for questioning, explaining the case has been transferred from Anyinba to Lokoja.

“The lady, Miss Glory Ojochegbe Samuel’s case has been transferred to Lokoja police command. She is already in detention at the state police headquarters in Lokoja.

“The Criminal Investigation Department, CID, is already investigating the matter before they know the next course of action to take,” he said.

Meanwhile, the management of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, had expressed deep sorrow over the incident.

In a statement issued by the university’s registrar, Yahaya Segun Alilu, the management lamented the tragic incident, which generated public concern and interest.

“The university wishes to state that the circumstances surrounding the death of Mr Olabode Abimbola Ibikunle are currently under investigation by the appropriate authorities.

“The school management expresses deep sorrow over the unfortunate passing of Mr. Olabode Abimbola Ibikunle, a lecturer in the Department of Social Science Education.

“His sudden demise, in the company of Miss Glory Ojochegbe Samuel [24GE1034] of the same department, is a tragic and disturbing occurrence,” the statement added.
