Award-winning Nigerian make-up artist, Hakeem Onilogbo, popularly known as Hakeem Effect, has opened up about his wife’s struggle with childbearing.

In an emotional interview with Biola Bayo for her Talk to B show, he revealed that people would send messages to his employees to tell his wife to conceive. He said it got to a stage where people used to call his wife his mother, and some had even accused him of using her womb for ritual.

As a result of the constant bullying and pressure, the couple opted for surrogacy, and as God would have it, his wife became pregnant when the surrogate was six months pregnant.

“Tell your boss’s wife to go and conceive. A woman’s pride in marriage is her children, not following him around. It got to a stage people used to call her Akeem’s mother and a lot of people started saying I have used her womb because immediately she came into my life, everything changed.
So, we had to go for surrogacy. By the time our surrogate was six months pregnant, my wife was already pregnant”.

Hakeem, touched, on his previous relationship, revealing that he was with his ex-wife for close to 10 years, but they didn’t marry. He stated that though his ex was a good and better wife, his current wife is the best.

There is a saying that behind every successful man is a woman. I was married for about 10 years before meeting her. My ex-wife was a good and better wife, but God gave me the best.

Hakeem revealed that the late Murphy Afolabi introduced him to the industry and gave him his popular nickname.

“Osumare by late Murphy Afolabi brought me into the limelight, and he was the one who gave me the name Akeem Effect”.

He also recounted an encounter with an eldërly gay man, who kissed him and demanded that he have sexual intercourse with him from behind.

“We were taken to a place, one old man put me on his lap and started kissing me. He said, ‘Can I take it from the back?’”.

Last year, skitmaker, Oluwadolarz, via his Instagram story, alleged that an influential entertainer told him he must first have s3x with him before he can promote his songs, endorse his music, or help him top charts.

Reacting to it, Don Jazzy told him to call the promoter’s name with his full chest unless his claims were false.

In 2023, actor, Kunle Remi shared his encounter with an influential gay entertainer in the industry, who almost convinced him to have sexual intercourse with him with a promise to make him famous and rich. Kunle admitted that he almost gave in to it because he felt he couldn’t make it in the industry without engaging in such.
