How prayers saved me from diabolic people in Nollywood – Linda John

Linda John, an accomplished actress, producer, model, entrepreneur, and political enthusiast, hails from the Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State and proudly identifies as an Idoma daughter.

Her formative years in a close-knit Christian household instilled strong values, which Linda credits with protecting her from negative influences within her industry. In a recent interview, she stated, “I grew up in a Christian home with my parents and siblings, particularly my brothers, which led me to learn male-dominated skills like football and table tennis. These skills have proven beneficial in my career, where they are sometimes needed. Furthermore, my strong religious upbringing has been a significant asset, especially in navigating the Nollywood industry, which unfortunately has some diabolical individuals. I firmly believe that prayer has saved me from them on numerous occasions.”

Linda’s commitment to high-quality storytelling is evident in her unwavering focus on compelling scripts as the foundation for any role she undertakes. “For me, it begins with a well-written and engaging story. Good stories are the bedrock of good movies. Secondly, the production crew is crucial. Collaborating with a team of professional individuals ensures a quality film, and I am solely dedicated to producing and being part of good movies. A strong team is absolutely essential,” she emphasized.

However, Linda maintains clear boundaries regarding the types of roles she will accept. “Taking on roles as a marine agent or any spiritually themed role is a definitive no for me. I believe these roles carry negative consequences, and as I mentioned before, prayer has shielded me countless times.”

Looking ahead, the star of “The Royal Quest” expresses a desire to advocate for reforms within Nollywood, specifically aimed at addressing the influx of untrained personnel. “If I had the opportunity, I would establish a task force to oversee the operations of the various guilds – directors, producers, actors, and so forth. Our industry requires greater professionalism,” she asserted.
