“How telling the truth made me lose an investment opportunity” – Actress Shan George reveals as she shares her encounter with a wealthy Nigerian man

How telling the truth made me lose an investment opportunity Shan George shares encounter with wealt

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Shan George has shared an encounter with a wealthy Nigerian man and how it cost her an investment opportunity.

On her Facebook page, she revealed that when she was still an upcoming producer, she met one of the richest men in Nigeria by accident and asked if he could invest in her next movie, but he turned her down. Not giving up, she reached out to him several times, but he was unreachable, and she eventually moved on.

Shan said she recently read that the man said he doesn’t take any little person seriously regarding business. She said she understands why he waved her off; she was a struggling producer.

The filmmaker noted how telling the truth keeps setting one back, but she wouldn’t join the gang of liars, nor will she fake it. In a message to the man, she told him she is now making movies with $100 million and questioned if he is still interested in investing.

“Many years ago, as a struggling movie producer, I met one of Nigeria’s richest men by accident. I went to invite a father to my movie premiere, and he was there, so I also extended an invitation to him. In the few minutes we met, he asked how much I spent producing the movie, and I told him 6million naira ( this was over 10 years ago, 6 million was still big money) and asked if he could invest in our next movie. He just smiled and waved me off. After a few times, I tried to reach out to him for the investment in our next movie, but he was unreachable, so I moved on.

Recently, I read where the same man said he doesn’t take any little person seriously when it comes to business. So I now understand why he waved me off then, cos I was a struggling producer.

This is how the truth keeps setting us back every time, shey I for lie then ni? But I sure won’t join the lying gang, nor will I fake it to make it. Oga sir, I now make movies with 100M dollars, just one Bitcoin, will u now invest? Or we still too small? Ndi uwa”.

In 2023, Shan had exposed how many of her junior colleagues are able to live lavish lifestyles. She claimed that many of them lease their houses and pretend they own houses.

In other news, Shan had called for a thorough investigation into fashion brand Ashluxe following her and Caroline Danjuma’s bitter encounter at their store. She shared the incident’s aftermath as she expressed how heartbroken she was, and stated that the incident made her realise that some people will waste anybody without provocation.

Last year, May, Shan had cried out for assistance after falling victim to a scam. In a distressing Instagram video, she pleaded for help as she revealed that an alarming sum of N3.6 million had mysteriously vanished from her Zenith bank account to an Opay account. Luckily for the veteran, she recovered her money, as she expressed gratitude to the authorities for helping her out.
