“How the man who trained me gave me one year to fail in the industry” – Lateef Adedimeji spills as he addresses those who call his wife, Mo Bimpe ‘barren’ (Video)

Nollywood actor and filmmaker Lateef Adedimeji has opened up on his pre-fame journey and marital life

The talented actor, in an emotional sit-down with media personality Chude Jideonwo, recalled how the man who trained him in the Yoruba movie industry told him that he would fail within one year. The movie star stated that he replied to the man telling him to give him two years and he would see what he would become.

Lateef also spoke about how he proposed to his wife on the phone and how she gets trolled online and called barren. Adedimeji also recounted how people who promised to support him when he began working on his project, Lisabi failed him. Luckily for him, his wife was by his side, and she helped boost his confidence.

“Someone once told me in the Yoruba movie industry that he gave me one year to see what I would become. I told him to give me two years and he will see what I will become.

My wife and I have received a lot of trolls. Recently, someone called her barren on social media. She would always show it to me and would say they would be all right.

I just called her one morning and asked if she would marry me and she said Yes.

When I wanted to do my first big screen job, Lisabi, I realized that everybody that I felt would stand by me was not there; there was nobody”.

In other news, last month, Lateef had reflected on the past as he celebrated his growth. Sharing a throwback photo of himself, he stated that his journey over the years was the spirit of not giving up. Lateef stated that if anyone had told him then that he would be what he is today, he would likely throw stones at them.

Back in September, he shared his movie trailer as he reflected on how he went from being the boy backstage to leading a galaxy of stars in bringing them this masterpiece.

Also in In May, the award-winning actor, in an interview, reflected on his early career days when he was collecting N4,000 for a lead role and shared the important advice his father gave him.

To add to it, while counting down to his birthday in 2023, Adedimeji revealed that he was once paid N5000 for a lead role. He recounted how he was just a helpless young boy who did his things and made people laugh unintentionally, which led to open doors for him.

Lateef has undoubtedly come so far in his career, and now, the actor is getting recognition for his talent. He was nominated for AMVCA 10th edition Best Actor in a Lead Role, last year, unfortunately, he lost to Wole Ojo.

Prior to that, he had received an award for his role in Femi Adebayo’s movie Jagun Jagun. He expressed how honoured he was to be on stage alongside the gods of Nollywood as he vowed never to forget the moment.
