Mel Gibson (Bowdrie) jumps into action in a new trailer for the upcoming crime thriller film, Hunting Season. The action movie is directed by Raja Collins and will also star Shelley Hennig (January), Sofia Hublitz (Tag), A.J. Buckley (Davenport), and Jordi Mollà (Alejandro).

In the preview of Hunting Season, father and daughter duo, Bowdrie and Tag, who live secluded lives in the wilderness, are seen rescuing January from a river, who had been shot and was on the brink of death. She explained how she was being hunted, and Bowdrie vowed to protect her from her attackers.

Check out the trailer below:

Hunting Season follows the violent, action-packed journey of Bowdrie and Tag, who try to protect January from a dangerous drug lord, Alejandro, who is determined to see the young woman dead. And, as a result, the two protagonists find themselves entangled with the criminal and his henchmen’s activity, putting their own lives at risk.

Gibson has spent the last decade reinventing himself as a grizzly antihero, taking on roles in films such as Blood Father and Dragged Across Concrete. While Hunting Season continues that trend, there is a difference. Instead of living in a big city or portraying a mercenary, his character resembles more of a hermit in the wilderness, forced into human interaction. He trades the flashiness of his earlier projects for a more stripped-down and emotional role, revealing a quieter, more primal side of himself.

Hunting Season will be debuting as a limited release. It will premiere in participating US theaters and on digital platforms on December 5, 2025.
