For 46 years following the release of 1979’s Alien, few science fiction monsters have been as terrifying as the Xenomorph. However, Marvel Comics has just found a way to make the iconic aliens that much more dangerous thanks to its brand-new crossover with none other than Captain America.
Alien vs Captain America #1 by Frank Tieri and Stefano Raffaele is a highly entertaining yet horrific start to this new crossover. Rather than being one of the first heroes to sacrifice themselves in the previous Aliens vs Avengers series, this new series reveals a timeline in which Captain America must contend with Hydra’s possession of multiple Xenomorph eggs during WWII.

Hydra Has Its Very Own Xenomorph Queen, Controlled By The Red Skull
As seen in this first issue, Hydra’s Baron von Strucker discovers a hidden tomb telling the story of the Inhuman Royal Family and how they were all slaughtered by Xenomorphs, a “plague from outer space”. Additionally, the tomb itself held multiple eggs just waiting for new hosts, having been buried with those they’d murdered.
Despite his forces facing several casualties via facehuggers, Strucker managed to secure a living sample to deliver to the Red Skull.
Following a brief time jump, it’s confirmed that Hydra has turned this one facehugger into a fully evolved Xenomorph Queen capable of producing enough eggs for the Red Skull to fashion his very own alien army, one he plans to use to make Hydra the world’s predominant power.
Likewise, this first issue also teases that Arnim Zola has perhaps found a way to keep the Queen and the various Xenomorphs under some degree of control.
Forget WWII, Captain America Is Now Facing A War of the Worlds
As seen at the issue’s very end, the US government has made ending the threat of the Red Skull its top priority, especially now that entire village populations are being turned into incubating farms, adding even more Xenomorphs to Hydra’s army.
Now that Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes have been dispatched to take down the Red Skull and his Xenomorph legions, the stage has been perfectly set for a truly epic WWII-set crossover, one that will undoubtedly see Captain America going head-to-head with one of the most dangerous creatures in cinematic history.
