I am not a bastard, nobody can stop me from coming home – Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

The Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has said that nobody can prevent her from visiting her home in Okehi, Kogi State.

Speaking against the proclamation issued by the Kogi State governor, Usman Ododo on a ban of all political rallies and gathering across the state, Akpoti-Uduaghan said she is home and nobody can do anything about it.

She also said that she knows the daughter of whom she is and cannot be deterred from coming home for the Sallah celebrations as earlier planned.

“Nobody and nothing can stop me from coming home. I’m an Ebira woman; this is my land. I’m the daughter of the late Jimoh Abdul Akpoti. I know my roots; I am not a bastard, and I’m not afraid of anybody,”  Akpoti-Uduaghan said at her homecoming event.

Recall that hours before her homecoming of the suspended senator, the Kogi State commissioner of police had asked the lawmaker to cancel her planned Sallah/homecoming rally.

According to the commissioner of police, the planned event was against the governor’s proclamation and could disrupt the peace and serenity in the state.

The commissioner of police also claimed that their were intelligence reports that some hoodlum might want to hijack the planned rally.

In addition, Amoka Monday, the Local Government chairman of Okehi LGA had issued a curfew across the council area.

Monday warned that anyone seen loitering or converging anywhere in the council would be arrested and prosecuted in line with the provisions of the law.

However, in a quick reaction, Akpoti-Uduaghan assured her people that she would be coming home and should any violence erupt, the governor of the Kogi State, the Police and the Senate President Godswill Akpabio be held responsible.
