“I am proud of your accomplishments” – President Tinubu congratulates Tems on her Grammy win

The president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has congratulated singer Tems on her Grammy win.

Kemi Filani reported that Tems had won the Best African Music Performance category for her popular song, Love Me, Jeje, at the 67th Grammy Awards, which was held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 2nd, 2025.

The talented singer beat her colleagues, Yemi Alade’s ‘Tomorrow,’ Asake MMS, Chris Brown and Davido’s Sensational, and Burna Boy Higher to clinch the award.

Tems had received three nominations at this year’s Grammys, bringing her career nomination to a total of eight. Her big win at this year’s Grammys makes it her second Grammy win as in 2023, she won the Best Melodic Rap Performance category for her contribution to the hit song, ‘Wait for U’, with Future and Drake.

Taking to the micro-blogging platform Twitter now known as X, has sent his well wishes to the singer. He expressed how proud he is of her and her accomplishments.

President Tinubu also expressed how proud he is of other Nigerian artists who were nominated for this year’s Grammys. He stated that their achievements continue to inspire all Nigerians as he once again congratulated her.

“Congratulations to @temsbaby on winning the Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance, “Love Me Jeje.” I am proud of her accomplishments and those of Nigerian origin who was nominated for the Grammy awards. Their achievements continue to inspire all Nigerians. Congratulations!”.

Similarly, music star, Davido had also congratulated Tems. Taking to his social media pages he called the singer the Queen, as he expressed how proud he is of her.

Meanwhile, for Davido, he lost all 3 categories he was nominated for. The singer was nominated for Best African Music category, which Tyla’s Water won; best Global Music Performance, which Pashto by Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer, and Zakir Hussain featuring Rakesh Chaurasia won and Best Global Albuforto Shakti’s The Moment.
