ACTRESS Funke Akindele has shared her passionate approach to love.

She describes herself as a “lover girl” who loves deeply and goes the extra mile for her partner. In an interview, the filmmaker behind “Everybody Loves Jenifa” stated, “I am a lover girl, and I love seriously. Because I am a bit of an extremist, I go the extra mile. I can wake up tomorrow and buy my spouse a car. For me, the green light is someone who genuinely pampers me and checks on me. I love a real and positive guy, and I also appreciate intelligent men.”

Reflecting on her personal journey, Akindele admitted that there was a time when she almost gave up on love. She offered advice to others who may feel similarly disheartened, saying, “I used to feel that way. Don’t give up on anything in life; instead, look on the brighter side. If you have given up on love, just take a chill pill and don’t force it. Don’t actively seek it; love will find you.”

Akindele also disagreed with critics who claim the industry is losing its quality storytelling. “I will never agree with that. We are creatives, and we tell our stories from different angles. What is in my head is not in yours. There is no bad story; it’s all about how you execute it. Remember, that’s my economic strength—the ability to tell my story the way I want. I am not tired of Nollywood stories; just tell your stories well,” she stated.

Regarding the secret to her remarkable success in Nollywood, Akindele emphasized, “It comes down to consistency and understanding your audience to tell relatable stories. Never get tired of that. To achieve outstanding success, you need to put in hard work, not just work smart.”
