Comedian, actress, and media personality, Anita Asuoha, popularly known as Real Warri Pikin, has clarified that the gastric sleeve surgery she underwent has not in any way affected her pregnancy.
In a recent interview, the mother of three explained that the procedure has, in fact, contributed to a healthier and risk-free pregnancy journey.
“A lot of people are ignorant because they don’t understand what gastric sleeve surgery entails. The procedure involves removing about 80 percent of the stomach, which has helped me achieve a healthy weight and improved my overall well-being,” she said.
According to her, the surgery had nothing to do with her womb or reproductive system. “With the surgery, I was even more likely to conceive quickly because it eliminated many of the health challenges I previously faced as a result of being overweight. Many obese women struggle with fertility, but when they shed excess weight, it often becomes easier to conceive,” she added.
Addressing concerns about working while pregnant, Real Warri Pikin dismissed the notion that pregnancy should limit her activities. “At what point was it stated that pregnancy means you cannot do certain things? My doctor has confirmed that I am perfectly fine and not a high-risk patient. So why shouldn’t I work?
“Our mothers and grandmothers went to farms until the day they delivered—some even gave birth there. So why should my hosting a show in the US while pregnant be considered unusual? Pregnancy does not mean I have to put my life on hold. I still have my children, my husband, my marriage, and my business to attend to. Why should I pause everything simply because I am expecting another baby?” she concluded.
