Nollywood actress Zainab Balogun has shared her surprise after being charged ₦10,000 for a single cup of tea at a restaurant in Lagos.
Naijaonpoint reports that she recounted how she went out for lunch with a friend but decided to order only green tea since she was not hungry.
The tea was served in a pot with a large cup, and she enjoyed it without checking the price until the bill was brought to her table.
According to a video on her Instagram page, she was taken aback to see ₦10,000 listed for the drink, which she said was nothing more than hot water with two tea bags.
Though shocked, she admitted she had to pay since she had already consumed it.
Zainab joked that she regretted not taking pictures at the restaurant to make the experience feel worth the amount spent.
The TV host added that the incident has taught her to be more careful about eating out, saying she would rather make her tea at home next time.
She said: “My mouth dropped so much I was hoping the people sitting next to me didn’t see that flies were catching my mouth.
“What do you mean you boiled water, put two tea bags, and it was ₦10,000?
“I obviously could not argue with them because I drank their tea. There’s no way to give it back. I had to pay.
“I should have joined another lady doing a photo shoot. You must use your money and the space well.
“But I didn’t, and that’s how I paid ₦10,000 for tea in Lagos. There’s tea at home. This will not happen again.”
