Super Eagles attacker Victor Boniface has hit back at lingering doubts over his fitness after completing a loan move to Werder Bremen from Bayer Leverkusen, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Nigerian international was officially presented by the Bundesliga side following a turbulent summer that saw transfers to Al Nassr and AC Milan collapse.
During his unveiling at Werder Bremen, Boniface, when asked about his condition, shrugged off speculation surrounding his physical state.
“Whatever you want to believe on the media, you can believe them, that’s not on me… I don’t care. If my body is not 100%, I will be in the hospital. I will not be here talking to you,” Boniface said.

Boniface 2025 Transfer Saga
The 24-year-old endured a difficult transfer window. In January, a €70 million move to Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr fell through despite passing a medical.
More recently, his proposed switch to AC Milan collapsed after the Italian club flagged concerns over his right knee during multiple medical checks.

Werder Bremen, however, showed faith in the Nigerian forward, signing him on a season-long loan until June 2026, with Leverkusen agreeing to cover part of his wages.
The move offers Boniface a fresh start, with Bremen in need of attacking reinforcements following the departure of top scorer Marvin Ducksch.
What Werder Bremen Manager Said About Boniface
Head coach Horst Steffen praised the signing and revealed the main reason he okayed the signing of the Nigerian attacker.
“Victor is physically incredibly strong, has a very good finish, and good pace. He shone as a goalscorer and assist provider in Bayer Leverkusen’s championship-winning season. I’m sure he can become a key player in our group this season.” Steffen as cited on the club’s official site.

Having passed Bremen’s medical and silenced initial concerns, Boniface now looks set to play a key role as the club looks to push up the Bundesliga table this season.
