Celebrity stylist, Toyin Lawani has called out an individual who sent her a direct message saying that her daughter, Elora, might be on the autism spectrum.
In the message shared by the serial entrepreneur on her Instagram page, the person stated that Elora was not talking properly and sucked her fingers, calling it “stimming”.
Naijaonpoint reports that she advised Lawani to ask the school for a referral to CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services).
The sender added that she is not judging, but could “see the pattern.”
Reacting, the mother of three rejected the observation, stating that her daughter speaks well but sometimes becomes shy in front of cameras.
She added that it was inappropriate and insensitive for someone who does not know her personally to make such assumptions, especially without being asked.
She wrote: “She talks perfectly well and she can be shy when there’s camera and I particularly feel you shouldn’t be
sending such to people you don’t know
Especially when they didn’t ask you. It’s far reaching. And I actually do not find it funny See I’m going to post this once
and warn yall once, If you do not know someone personally refrain from sending them such messages”.
