In a post on his Instagram page, Ayo shared a video of him receiving an award from the National Film and Video Censors Board NFVCB as the Box Office King over the last decade. The actor expressed how incredibly honored he is to receive the recognition as he noted how the journey wouldn’t be possible without the support of his fans, cast and crew, and everyone who believes in his stories. “Feeling incredibly honored to be recognized as the Box Office King over the last decade! Similarly, Wumi Toriola had bagged a box office award. The Yoruba actress took to her Instagram page to share the news with her fans and followers, as she revealed that she was just awarded the box office champion of 2024 by NFVCB. Funke Akindele is currently the Queen of Box Office after she made history in January as the first Nigerian filmmaker to gross over a billion at cinemas, with her 2023 movie, A Tr!be Called Judah, which grossed over N1.4 billion. It was no surprise to many as Funke is one of the most hardworking women in Nollywood. In May, 2023, Funke Akindele, as well as Mo Abudu, and Ayo Makun had topped the list of highest-grossing movie producers in Nigeria. In a list compiled by Top Charts Africa, Mo, Funke, and AY were said to have grossed over N1 billion in movies.
