A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Dr. (Chief) Peter Taiwo Ogundeji, popularly known as Apata, has empowered over 150 party members with farm implements to boost agricultural productivity in the state.
The event, tagged “Ileri-Oluwa/Apata Farmers Empowerment Programme,” was held on July 22, 2025, at the APC Osun West Senatorial District Office in Iwo.
Beneficiaries, who received knapsack sprayers and agrochemical products, were drawn from across 10 local government areas within the Osun West zone.
Speaking with newsmen, Dr. Ogundeji said the distribution of the farm implements was aimed at empowering farmers, increasing their productivity, and improving their livelihoods while contributing to the state’s economic development.
Apata, who affirmed that helping people has become part of his life, stated that he finds joy in such acts of kindness, which he began many years ago. He emphasized that the gesture would further strengthen the progressive ideology of the APC.
Highlighting his foundation’s humanitarian service projects, Dr. Ogundeji revealed that over 500 JAMB forms were distributed to students in 2025. He also sponsored digital skills training for youths and provided over 500 reading glasses, among other initiatives.
Apata noted that his inspiration for the empowerment initiative came from his leader, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, whom he described as a “man of the people” with a deep passion for empowerment.
Dr. Ogundeji expressed optimism that the APC would record a landslide victory in the 2026 Osun governorship election and replicate the success in the 2027 general election to secure the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He boasted that the party would defeat the opposition even before noon on election day.
Also speaking at the event, the Osun APC State Secretary, Hon. Alao Olabisi Kamoru, stated that the party is firmly rooted in all local government areas of the state. He described the APC as the party to beat in the upcoming governorship election, with daily preparations ongoing to unseat the ruling party.
Hon. Olabisi confirmed that there is peace within the APC and noted that all the party’s aspirants for the governorship race are peace-loving individuals. He confidently asserted that any of them is capable of defeating the Governor Adeleke-led administration.
The programme was well attended by notable party stakeholders from the Osun West Senatorial District, who commended Apata for his contributions to the party’s progress in the zone.
Beneficiaries also expressed gratitude to Apata for his kind gesture, affirming that the farm implements would greatly support their agricultural ventures, ensure a more food-secure senatorial district, and improve the wellbeing of their families.
