Nigerian singer, Ayra Starr, has opened up about her admiration for global superstar, Robyn Rihanna Fenty, popularly known as Rihanna, describing her as the ultimate role model.

Ayra Starr revealed how surreal it felt to discover that Rihanna is a fan of her music.

Naijaonpoint reports that the Rush crooner recounted the unforgettable moment she met the Barbadian billionaire and pop icon.

“She [Rihanna] is such an amazing person. To be honest, it still feels like a dream. I love her so much,” Starr revealed in a recent interview with ETalk TV.

The Mavin Records artist revealed that the moment wasn’t just starstruck admiration; it turned out to be a moment of mutual recognition.

Rihanna, according to Starr, revealed during their meeting that she is a fan of the young Nigerian’s music.

“She’s such an amazing artist, an amazing woman, an amazing person in general—somebody to look up to. I know I chose a great role model,” the singer added.

Despite being a global performer herself, Ayra Starr admitted that being around Rihanna leaves her giddy with excitement and nerves.

“Being able to be around her… I usually don’t know what to do with myself. When I get nervous around her, I try to make unnecessary jokes,” she confessed.

Ayra Starr didn’t hide her hopes for the future. She said she’s not only content being Rihanna’s fan but is also hoping to collaborate with her musical idol sometime soon.

“I’m looking forward to working with her,” she added with optimism.
