Former Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Olugbeyega Aribisogan, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Aribisogan, in a letter dated July 31, 2025, and addressed to the chairman of APC Ward 7, Ijesa Isu-Ekiti, Ikole LGA, cited personal reasons and his ongoing Ph.D. research project as the basis for his decision.
“Due to my ongoing Ph.D. research project and other challenges, I have to prioritise my well-being and reduce those pressures,” he wrote.
The former lawmaker added that he could no longer remain in the APC without compromising his principles, despite what he described as his best efforts.
He, however, expressed gratitude for the opportunities he had within the party, as well as the support and experience gained during his membership.
Aribisogan, who served briefly as speaker in 2022 before being impeached, has not disclosed his next political move.
