Popular Nigerian content creator and social media influencer, Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, has disclosed that he makes an average of N20 million weekly from TikTok live sessions.

Speaking in an interview on Rubbin’ Minds, Peller provided insight into how he generates income on the platform. He explained that while TikTok takes a percentage of his earnings, he still receives substantial payouts.

“If I’m active on TikTok, I can make up to N20 million or N15 million in a week,” he said. “TikTok takes a percentage, so for instance, on $2,000 revenue, you might be able to withdraw around $1,500.”

He emphasized that his primary source of income comes from live sessions, adding that he changed his approach to content creation over time. “I used to focus on making money directly, but I realized I earned more when I changed my strategy and style of talking during live sessions.”

Peller revealed that a single live session can earn him as much as $3,000 in 30 minutes. “I don’t go live every day because you don’t want people to see your face too often. I only go live three times a week, and once, I made $10,000 from a single session—I was shocked!”

With nearly 8 million followers on TikTok, Peller’s success highlights the rapid growth of Africa’s digital creator economy. In 2023, the industry was valued at $3.08 billion and is projected to reach $17.84 billion by 2030, with an annual growth rate of 28.5%.

The digital content creation space has also contributed significantly to job creation in Nigeria. A report by Jobberman estimates that the creative industry employs 4.2 million Nigerians, making it the country’s second-largest employer. By 2025, it is expected to generate an additional 2.7 million jobs.

An IT Experts believe platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and other digital marketplaces are playing a crucial role in helping African creators reach global audiences and monetize their content, further fueling the expansion of the creator economy.
