Nigerian skitmaker Tolulope Olayiwola popularly known as Remote has opened up on why he decided to marry in 2020.
Naijaonpoint reports that he said his decision was shaped by his childhood experience of growing up without a mother, which often left him feeling lonely.
Speaking in an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Remote revealed that his wife, whom he had been dating since 2016, became the main source of comfort and stability in his life.
According to him, her constant support helped him through moments when he struggled with emptiness.
He recalled how a simple gesture from her once moved him deeply, making him realize she was the only person who truly understood him and could stand by him.
Remote said her care and presence gave him a sense of family he had missed, and that bond convinced him she was the right partner to build his life with.
He said: “I got married between 2020 and 2021. The reason is simple: I grew up without a mother, so I was often alone. I had been dating my wife since 2016.
“She’s been like a mother figure to me. She’s always there, supportive in ways I never experienced before. I remember once she gave me just N1,000, and it almost brought me to tears. It wasn’t about the money itself, but it made me reflect on my life.
“That day, I didn’t want to pocket it immediately because I really needed it. But at the same time, I realized that she’s the only person who truly understands me and can stand by me. For someone to handle me the way she does… I sometimes feel like even I don’t fully understand myself.”
