Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke, has broken his silence amid the backlash over his controversial birthday message to his colleague, Kate Henshaw.
Naijaonpoint reports that in a radio interview, the actor made it clear that his message was deeply personal and not intended for public misinterpretation.
He described ... as a reflection of a long-standing friendship built over two decades, marked by trust, vulnerability, and mutual respect.
He explained that the message was born out of a comfort zone shared with someone who knows him well.
Iyke said that it was never meant to suggest anything romantic or sexual.
Instead, it was a raw, emotional outpouring that revealed how deeply he values his bond with the celebrant.
He said: “I rarely say something I don’t mean. I’m bound to every word I speak and um i don’t waste words i think words there’s words of fire there is the frequency, the vibration the energy that goes out every time you want to present yourself in good light and bad light
“I’ve known this person over two decades of my life where we’ve grown as friends we’ve grown as brothers and sisters and um there are few people in the world and myself around them okay i express myself freely.
“What happened was a word play that was told in the space of a comfort zone that only two people or less i even can cohere with because these are words that either resonates clearly in your head and never finds expression through your voice You carry them forever.
“And I know the feeling is mutual. There’s nothing absolutely sexual about it. There’s absolutely nothing. It doesn’t even suggest someone I’m dating.”
