Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has denied speculations about his alleged plan to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing the rumours as baseless and malicious.
In a statement released on Saturday, the governor said he remains a committed and loyal member of the PDP, and the undisputed leader of the party in Osun State.
“Over the last few hours, I have been inundated with calls regarding rumours of a possible defection,” Adeleke stated.
“I want to assure the good people of Osun State and Nigerians at large, I remain a loyal member and the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State.”
He urged residents of the state to ignore the news, which he described as a desperate attempt by political detractors to distract his administration from its focus on delivering results.
“My focus remains on delivering good governance and fulfilling our 5-point agenda for Osun people,” Adeleke said.
“Please disregard the fake news and continue to support our mission for a better Osun State.”
