Kenya’s self-proclaimed “Twendy Twendy” hitmaker, Justina Syokau, has once again set tongues wagging after a candid interview with Dr. Ofweneke on TV47. The controversial gospel singer did not hold back as she addressed everything from her cosmetic surgery journey to her struggles in love and the controversy surrounding her music.
The Price of Beauty
Justina revealed that she spent a staggering KSh 3 million in the United States on a cosmetic procedure meant to enhance her curves. According to her, the surgery involved transferring fat from her stomach and back to her behind. Unfortunately, the results were far from what she expected.
“Nilienda US nikaambia daktari atoe mafuta kwa tumbo na mgongo aweke nyuma. The process cost me 3 million. But baadaye niligundua ilikuwa inakaa vibaya. Ilikuwa inahitaji maintenance. It was so heavy plus ilikuwa imehang side moja,” she disclosed.
The singer explained that she later had to undergo a corrective procedure costing KSh 600,000 to fix the complications. Despite the painful experience, she insisted that 2023 was her year to “rest and expand her territories.”
Still Searching for Love
On her love life, Justina admitted she is still single and actively searching for a husband. She candidly shared her struggles in 2022, confessing that attempts to woo popular celebrities did not bear fruit.
She revealed having a crush on Tanzanian star Rayvanny, only to discover he was more interested in a music collaboration than romance. She also confessed admiration for fellow gospel singer Ringtone Apoko but said she later found out that his flamboyant lifestyle was “fake.”
“Nilikuwa namtaka sana but I realized hakuna kitu kama Runda house na magari,” she said, dismissing his claims of wealth.
When asked about the qualities she desires in a husband, Justina was clear: he must be extremely wealthy and energetic in the bedroom.
“Mimi nataka mtu mwenye ako na pesa. Probably a billionaire. Mwenye tukienda supermarket nachukua chenye nataka. But lazima akuwe fiti kwa kitanda, otherwise hatutakuwa tunafanya kazi yeyote.”
Music and Misconceptions
Justina also addressed the uproar around her controversial hit song Twendy Twendy Three Ni Mwaka wa Kupanuliwa. She clarified that the word “kupanuliwa” was never meant to be provocative but simply referred to “extension” or “expansion.”
The singer further dismissed accusations that her yearly songs bring bad luck. Critics often link her music to unfortunate events, noting she sang about 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic and 2021–2022, which were marked by economic hardships.
“In my recent video, you saw me crying. Watu wanasema nawaroga. That is not true. When I sing, I speak on what I want God to do for me. But unaona mwanaume akishindwa kupata bibi na pesa ananilaumu,” she defended herself.
