Senator Ned Nwoko has said his embattled wife, Regina Daniels, must undergo rehabilitation to safeguard her life and ensure she is mentally stable enough to raise their children.
The lawmaker stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Sunday.
Nwoko said his insistence on rehabilitation is based on a series of “alarming toxicology results” and the actress’s sudden shift in behaviour.
According to him, Regina’s previously calm personality had given way to violent and destructive tendencies, accompanied by recurrent health crises.
He said, “I want her alive and healthy, not just for me, but for our children.
“We have two young kids together, and they cannot fight for themselves, and I’m going to fight for them by safeguarding their mother.”
The senator disclosed he had taken Regina to Nizamiye Hospital on three separate occasions after she reportedly suffered drug overdoses.
“I have lived with this problem for eight good months. On three occasions, I had to carry her to Nizamiye Hospital unconscious from a drug overdose, and you can go verify it,” he added.
Nwoko presented toxicology results he claimed supported the drug-abuse concerns, saying anyone discouraging her from seeking proper rehabilitation was an enemy to both mother and children.
He described the recent social media denial by Regina’s mother and siblings as “baseless distractions.”
He said, “That is why I am saying that everybody has to calm down, join hands to save her, but she and her mother are living in denial.
“If her mother and those supporting her really want to prove me wrong, let them arrange for her to visit any toxicologist of their choice. I will pay.”
Responding to public questions about what may have led her into drugs, Nwoko accused some of Regina’s siblings and their friends of influencing her negatively.
He said, “I don’t think it is bad to trust her siblings and their friends around my wife, but her brother, Sammy, and his friends have influenced her.
“Her close relations and friends that I trusted around her are the ones exploiting her resources to supply her with drugs, leaving her addicted.”
He added that each time she made progress, the same circle “smuggled in” substances she was trying to quit.
Nwoko also criticised a recent allegation by Regina’s mother, Rita Daniels, suggesting one of his sons had died in the UK from a drug overdose.
He described the claim as “an inhuman attack,” insisting that no autopsy linked his son’s death to drug-related complications.
The ongoing marital dispute became public after Regina accused the senator of physically assaulting her and announced she was no longer interested in the marriage.
Nwoko denies the allegation, maintaining that Regina’s recent conduct is linked to substance abuse and requires medical intervention.
