Celebrated Kamba gospel singer and Twendi Twendi hitmaker, Justina Syokau, has once again sparked conversation after revealing the kind of man she hopes to marry.

Speaking during an interview with Radio Maisha, Syokau disclosed that she nearly found a husband in 2021, but the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted her plans. With curfews and travel restrictions in place, she said it became impossible to meet potential partners.

“All my resolutions for that year went into the drain because of Covid-19. We had curfews and cessation of movement. If men were being told to be in the house by 6:00 pm, wangenionea wapi?” she questioned.

Syokau was unapologetic about her standards, insisting she is only interested in a wealthy man who can also meet her romantic expectations. “Some call me saying, ‘I am a farmer in Kisii.’ Do you think I can go to Kisii and start farming with this look of mine? I want someone who has money, someone in his 40s or 50s, and someone who is still sexually fit. His services must be legit, and he must support my music career,” she said.

The singer has been consistent in her stand, previously telling a local daily that she would never marry a broke man. According to her, love without financial stability is not an option.

Syokau, who has been divorced for eight years, made it clear that she will not settle for less. For now, she prioritizes her health, her brand, and building her wealth. Dating, she said, is not at the top of her list of priorities.

Her outspoken views continue to divide opinion among Kenyans online, with some applauding her honesty while others accuse her of setting unrealistic expectations.
