“I was in an abusive marriage for 10 years, which drove me to become an alcoholīc” – Actress Ayo Adesanya opens up on her bitter marital ordeal (Video)

Nollywood actress Ayo Adesanya is opening up about her personal life and crashed marriage.

In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Ayo revealed that she was in an abusive marriage for 10 years, which drove her to become an alcoholīc. She recounted how her ex-husband would beat her anywhere he saw her.

According to her, she couldn’t leave because of the shame that people would say she couldn’t keep a man. Ayo noted how Bimbo Akintola and some of her colleagues got angry because she couldn’t leave her ex.

Ayo Adesanya further recalled how her ex threatened to pluck out her eyes with a knife and sent her son away to Ibadan at 1 year old because he was jealous of the attention she was giving to him. She also revealed why her next relationship didn’t work out and her journey back to Nollywood.

“Anywhere my ex-husband saw me, he would beat me.

He beat me so much, I became an alcoholīc. But I couldn’t leave because of the shame that people would say I couldn’t keep a man”.

Ayo Adesanya was formerly married to one Goriola Hassan, but they are now divorced. She also has a son.

Similarly, veteran actress Jumoke George had opened up on her failed marriage. The veteran recounted how her ex-husband was always maltreating her even in public.

Actress Mama No Network had opened up on her failed marriage to her colleague, Baba Lanko. She claimed that after her marriage broke up, her ex-husband told producers not to feature her in the same movie he would appear in. She disclosed that her ex-husband was the one who left the marriage as he wasn’t coming home.

Also, Ronke Odusanya, while opening on her crashed marriage, revealed how a friend of hers told her husband that she was promiscuous and had left his house to sleep with a senator with their daughter. She disclosed that when she left her husband’s house, she only had N10,000 in her account and had to go squat with her brother.
