The media aide of popular Fuji singer, Abass ‘Obesere‘ Akande, Ayonla Althentic, has claimed that his boss lost a staggering ₦95 million in cash and jewellery during the thugs’ attack in Ondo State.

Naijaonpoint recalls that Obesere and his team were attacked on November 21 following a performance at a burial ceremony in Okitipupa, Ondo state.

In a statement shared on Facebook on Wednesday, Althentic disclosed that the attack was a calculated operation that unfolded as Obesere and his team were leaving the venue of the event.

According to Althentic, the thugs took away a bag containing ₦25 million, a combination of earnings from a previous show and that day’s performance.

He added that Obesere’s gold necklace, worth ₦45 million, and his gold wristwatch, which is valued at about ₦25 million, were also stolen.

... read, “Around 6:00 p.m., I noticed unfamiliar faces not dressed like the bereaved family they looked like street boys, which is common.

“Alhaji Obesere sang to hail them; they danced and seemed happy, unaware that they had a mission to execute. When the band stopped playing, they had already gone into the band bus.

”Alhaji and I are trying to move out of the field to where we had parked outside. A large group of hoodlums rushed at us, blocking our way, demanding that I hand over the bag of money.

“Other thugs surrounded Alhaji Obesere and demanded more money. After he gave them some ransom, they insisted on more; he asked to move to his car to give them more, but they didn’t take it easy with him.

”In the process, they also hijacked his gold necklace (valued at about 45 million) and his gold wristwatch (about 25 million).

”On my side, I was violently beaten hit with blows and a plank as they tried to seize the bag. The struggle led to my left shoulder being dislocated, and I was stabbed with a knife, but I clung to the money and tried to escape.

“The attackers were more numerous than I expected. Suddenly I received a hit on the back of my head and lost consciousness for a few seconds. When I came back, the bag of money had been taken.

“The bag contained N20 million from our previous performance, plus roughly N5 million made on stage that afternoon, totalling N25 million. Alhaji had also just returned from a European tour, France and the UK, so the total amount taken was significant.”
