Human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju has declared he is unbothered about the ₦1.5 billion lawsuit filed against him by 2023 presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.

Naijaonpoint reports that Peter Obi accused Adeyanju of making false, baseless, unfounded, malicious, reckless, scandalous, and defamatory statements against him on social media.

In the suit filed at the state high court in Onitsha, Anambra, Obi is also asking the court to order Adeyanju to tender an unreserved apology to him on social media and in three national newspapers.

“AN ORDER compelling the Defendant to immediately retract and delete from all his social media platforms, including but not limited to his “X” handle @adeyanjudeji, his verified Facebook account “Adeyanju Deji,” Instagram account @AdeyanjuDeji and any other online platforms or sites, all false and malicious publication describing the Plaintiff with derogatory labels (including “leader of a mob,” “religious bigot,” “fraud,” “scum,” “political fraud,” “political prostitute”), allegations of financial misconduct, dishonesty, or abuse of office, which have harmed the Plaintiff’s personal, political, and professional reputation,” part of the court documents reads.

In response, Adeyanju in a post via 𝕏 on Wednesday said he is ready to prove in court that Peter Obi is not only corrupt but a bigot and fraud.

He wrote, “Finally, Peter Obi has sued me. I am actually happy and relieved that he didn’t chicken out in the end. Interestingly, he dragged me all the way to Anambra State, even though he is almost always in Abuja, where I reside. But no shaking, we move. I will prove in court that Peter Obi is corrupt, a bigot and a fraud. You will all be entertained I promise.”
