Despite losing the Anambra governorship election held last week Saturday, the candidate of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, Sir Paul Chukwuma, has said he will remain in the party.

Chukwuma came third in the election after scoring 37,753 votes, behind the candidates of APGA and APC, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, respectively.

Chukwuma, in a press release, said that despite losing, he will remain in the YPP, insisting that it is his personal political resolve.

He said: “I’m comfortable with YPP; I’m therefore of the strong view that together with my team, we must remain steadfast in building a worthwhile political platform, rather than abandoning it.

“I have taken the time to think through it. I have entertained arguments and efforts to convince me otherwise, but after a careful assessment, I want to say that I will remain in the YPP,” Paul Chukwuma said.

Chukwuma is a founding member and leading financier of the APC in Anambra State. His exit from the APC just before the party’s primaries in Anambra State was a shock.

It was gathered that some APC stakeholders had been approaching him to return to the party after the election.

The governorship candidate also announced that he was still monitoring the outcome of the election and would take appropriate action afterward.
