Ice Spice has opened up about her fallout with Nicki Minaj, and according to the rising rapper, things went left when Minaj wanted to sign her and could not.
Ice Spice and Nicki collaborated on her 2023 “Princess Diana (Remix)” and then joined forces for the hit single “Barbie World” the following year.
“I always wanted that to be the case, but when it happens, you’re like, ‘Whoa, is this real life?’ Two records with her, I was gassed. Of course, I still am,” she said of working with Minaj.
She then revealed why she did not end up signing with Minaj’s Heavy On It Records.
“I was already signed when she was trying to sign me, so I think that’s where the hiccups were. It was really no room anymore, at that point, to make a new deal,” she added.
In an interview with Rolling Stone last year, Ice Spice addressed leaked text messages online, calling minaj “ungrateful.”
“I think that the saddest part of the whole situation, it’s somebody I knew for so many years and called my friend had me open up and be vulnerable with them, and then took complete advantage of that for her own benefit,” she told the outlet at the time. “So that was the saddest part really, just feeling used, basically.”
