If I am president today, the North will celebrate me – Peter Obi

Peter Obi

Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State and the 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party has said that fixing Nigeria is not rocket science.

Obi while speaking with Seun Okinbaloye on Channels Television’s Politics Today said the North is Nigeria’s biggest asset.

Decrying the neglect of leadership faced by the Northern part of the country, Obi said if he ever becomes President, the North will have a reason to celebrate him.

He also assured that he would deal with the challenges and the high level of criminality experienced in the North

Obi said, “I want them to trust me. The biggest asset of this country is in the North, and the uncultivated land is in the North. The criminality we face in the North today, I will deal with it.

“Seun, if I were President today, the North would celebrate me. I have an idea of the problem. I am in this country, and when I am looking for cash, I go to Kano. There were industries in Bompai, Shamdam, Shandam 2 and everything,” he said.

Speaking further, the former governor said that countries are developing at such a great speed and Nigerian leaders ought to learn what these nations are doing differently.

“I was in Indonesia this year, from February 1 to February 7, meeting their Minister of Health, Minister of Education, Minister of Small Businesses to the former vice president to the most popular president.

“So you learn because what they did is not rocket science,” Obi added.
