Veteran actor cum politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, has demanded an apology from Governor Monday Okpebholo over his statement restricting the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, from entering Edo State without a security clearance from him.
An obviously livid Okonkwo said if Okpebholo does not apologize to Obi, then he would be on the Governor’s case.
Naijaonpoint reports Okonkwo made the submission on Monday morning during an interview appearance on Arise Television.
Asked by the anchor during the interview to maintain decorum and control his anger, Okonkwo retorted that he doesn’t maintain decorum with people like Governor Okpebholo, who also threw caution to the winds in making certain declarations that threaten the life of a Nigerian citizen.
“If that Governor (Okpebholo) doesn’t apologize, I will be on his case,” Okonkwo declared.

It would be recalled that Governor Okpebholo warned Peter Obi not to visit Edo State without security clearance.
Okpebholo gave the warning while formally receiving Hon. Marcus Onobun, the last remaining opposition federal lawmaker in the State, into the ruling party’s fold.
Governor Okpebholo used the occasion to issue strong remarks against perceived political instability instigated by certain opposition leaders.
He particularly condemned the recent visit of Peter Obi to Benin City and asserted that it coincided with a resurgence of violence.
The declaration has continued to attract backlashes from various stakeholders, but the Governor has dismissed trending reports that he threatened former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, not to visit the state without clearance.
Specifically, in a statement to Naijaonpoint on Sunday evening, Okpebholo’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, insisted that Edo State is open to all Nigerians, but security protocols must be adhered to.
