Reflecting on the 2022 and 2023 election campaigns, El-Rufai confessed that if anyone had predicted today’s rampant insecurity and economic hardship back then, they wouldn’t have been believed. The hopeful promises of improved security and economic stability, he said, have sadly flipped to worsening violence, kidnappings, and fear.
