iFixit now sells official parts for the Xbox Series X

If you play games on a console it can be a disappointing thing to have that console break on you, but the good news is that if you have an Xbox Series X, you can now get official parts from iFixit to repair it.

iFixit has officially announced that it now sells parts for the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S, and it already has repair guides up for several different components for each of Microsoft’s three Xbox Series consoles. This includes the Xbox Series X with a disc drive as well as the model without the disc drive, and the Xbox Series S which has always been all-digital.

Microsoft began selling replacement parts for its Xbox controllers last year. Parts were somewhat limited though and Microsoft didn’t offer everything. That being said, you’re able to get the most common things you might need to replace, like the main board, thumbstick caps, and more. What Microsoft hasn’t offered is parts for the console itself. That doesn’t matter anymore though because iFixit sells them and tells you how to repair the console step by step.

Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S parts from iFixit are officially from Microsoft

Even though Microsoft isn’t selling these parts itself, they are official Microsoft parts. The company has entered into a partnership with iFixit to sell these parts so you don’t have to wonder if you’re buying anything that’s aftermarket or potentially lesser quality.

When it comes to the parts that iFixit sells, it seems to have pretty much everything. You can pick up the motherboard, back panel, fan, shell, and even the base foot that the console sits on when it’s vertical.

Parts like the base foot are $9.99, while parts like the main motherboard are listed at a staggeringly high $599. Basically, unless the price on the motherboard is a typo, you’re better off just buying a new Xbox Series X.

While you might be able to find some or all of these parts for less elsewhere, there’s no guarantee of that. So if you do decide to go this route and repair your own console, it’s good to know that iFixit has what you probably need. All-in-all you’re set up pretty well in the event that something breaks. That being said, going through with the repair might depend on what needs fixing.
