Former Chief Press Secretary to former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Onyebuchi Ememanka, has officially joined the Labour Party.

According to Ememanka, this decision follows a period of personal reflection and consultations, which he shared with his followers on Facebook.

Ememanka, who had served as the Chief Press Secretary for Governor Ikpeazu throughout his tenure, publicly expressed his conviction about choosing a new path for the future of Abia State.

In a Facebook post, he shared a picture of himself with Governor Alex Otti and wrote:

“Finally after a series of meetings and deep personal reflection, I have made my decision. At a point in life, a man has to make a choice, even when the options are tough. A time to speak the truth to yourself.

“That is the true definition of manhood. I have chosen to put Abia first and choose her sustainable development above every other consideration. I have chosen Otti.

” I have chosen the Labour Party.”

Ememanka had last week resigned his membership from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), a decision that was not an easy one. In his resignation letter, he shared his reasons for leaving the party, citing the continuous exodus of key party members after the 2023 elections and the lack of the reorganization he had hoped for.

He reflected on the party’s failure to address the loss and strategize for the future, which ultimately led him to the conclusion that the PDP was no longer a viable platform for his aspirations.

“Remaining in the PDP will make my vision a mirage, at least in the immediate future,” Ememanka wrote, explaining his choice to resign.

He expressed gratitude to the PDP for the opportunities and the platform given to his people.

“I will always be grateful to the party and her members for the platform I was given and the cooperation I enjoyed while I served our people “.

Despite his resignation, Ememanka expressed admiration and gratitude toward Governor Ikpeazu, describing him as a man of peace and acknowledging the opportunity to serve as Chief Press Secretary for one full tenure, a historical record in the state.
