Ikpeazu’s former Chief Press Secretary resigns from PDP, days after praising Otti’s road project

Onyebuchi Ememanka, the former Chief Press Secretary to the immediate past Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

This is coming three days after the former CPS wrote an article praising the performance of Governor Alex Otti’s administration in the reconstruction of Port Harcourt road in Aba.

Ememanka in a statement he issued on Thursday, said he he submitted a letter of resignation from the PDP, to the Chairman of the party in Amasato Ward 3, Osisioma Ngwa LGA, Chiemela Ufomba.

He described his decision to exit the PDP as painful but inevitable, adding that it was taken after “very deep personal reflection and in consultation with my family”

“After the 2023 election which we lost, my thinking was that the party will go into a review of the factors that led to the loss and re strategize for the future. Personally, I girded my loins and prepared for life in the opposition. In my view, it would also be nice to know how it felt being outside of government and play the opposition, which is a critical role in a democracy.

“I willingly transmuted from Chief Press Secretary to the Governor to Spokesman to the immediate Past Governor, an assignment I accepted to perform, PRO BONO!” he said.

While thanking the former Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu and the PDP for the opportunities they gave him to serve, Ememanka said he was not yet decided on the next place to go, even as he said that the Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu has been impressing him.
