Kunle Adegoke, SAN, popularly known as K-RAD, a notable aspirant for the 2026 Osun State governorship election under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), has pledged to implement the Osun State Capital Development Territory Law to drive inclusive, peaceful, and sustainable growth and development.

K-RAD, who spoke at familiarity meetings with APC elders in Orolu and Irepodun Local Government Areas over the weekend, lamented that the urbanization process in Osun State is not sufficiently accompanied by adequate housing, basic amenities and infrastructure, and other developmental structures needed to ensure sustainable urban life and well-being.

He noted, “With inadequate land mass and an annual population growth rate of 3.15%, Osogbo and the neighbouring towns will organically become sprawling slums if we do not adopt and implement the Osun State Capital Development Territory Law immediately.”

K. Rad predicted that Osun State Capital Territory would become the third largest urban center after Lagos and Ibadan in the South Western part of Nigeria by 2035, with or without government plans. He asserted that the cornubation of towns around Osogbo is inevitable but can and should be well planned and managed.

“While driving from Osogbo through Agunbelewo, Ilobu, and Ifon this morning, I felt as though I was driving from Ikeja through Agege and into Alimosho in Lagos. I could hardly notice the signages of different towns and communities along the way. Now is the time to plan how to manage this growth sustainably so that we can provide adequate infrastructure, hospitals, recreational facilities, formal housing schemes, police stations, water, sufficient energy, and industries to cater to this growth,” K. Rad further explained.

The erudite legal practitioner and Learned Silk emphasized the urgency of the initiative, stating, “It is time to implement the Osun State Capital Territory Scheme and recalibrate the Osun State Capital Territory Development Authority (OCTDA). This project reflects my commitment to building a capital territory that embodies progress, inclusivity, and prosperity for all. We are ready to work with all stakeholders to make this vision a reality.”

He challenged the Orolu and Irepodun farming communities to prepare themselves, as, according to him, the true food basket of the Osun State Capital Territory and the State in general will benefit from his innovative agricultural policy. “My administration will assist farmers in land preparation, the supply of high-yield seeds and seedlings, and adequate support from extension officers to ensure prosperity. Our households will become dairy farmers, owning and managing their own cattle for dairy and beef purposes.”

According to K. Rad, a man described by APC leaders in both Ifon and Irepodun as a “Utility Aspirant” and a blessing to Osun APC, “the future is assured not only for farmers in the region but for all indigenes and residents of Osun State in general upon my assumption of office as the Executive Governor of the State in 2026.”
